Inspiration
Autism Spectrum Disorder(ASD) is a hereditary lifelong disorder that can affect a person’s mobility, communication skills, and senses. It is estimated that 1%-3% of the world’s population have this condition, yet these topics are hardly ever brought up in countries like Mongolia. This prompted me to create a website detailing information about the disorder. This project was made for the HACKATHON division.
What it does
ASD-Assist has a colorful design meant to captivate its intended audience of adolescents. The website includes 6 written articles and 3 tests, one for Autism and the rest for conditions likely to coincide with ASD. The goal is to incite willingness to study more about the disorder, so the articles are quite short.
How it works
The project uses Next.js and TailwindCSS for the front-end. The data is stored on PostgreSQL with Prisma connecting my project to it, and I used Next-Auth for authentication as it was meant for Next.js projects. As of now, the web application only has 2 OAuth providers, GitHub and Google.
Challenges I ran into
This was my first Next.js project so it took me some time to get used to working with it. It was also my first time using Next-Auth, but I managed to understand it after some time.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
I'm particulary proud of the design and for all the things I learned in this short time period.
What's next for ASD-Assist
I'm creating an admin page where you can create new tests and articles. I also plan to make fun games to make the web application more exciting.
