Inspiration

I took insipiration from embrace-autism.com.

What it does

The project falls under the Education category as it aims to dispel misinformation about ASD, and spread awareness on the disorder. My country, Mongolia, is far behind in terms of mental health, so a lot of my focus was on explaining terms, and facts about the disorder in an engaging way. To do this, I used well-known franchises, and animes like Dungeon Meshi and Sonic for the images on the articles. All the information in the articles can easily be found on the web, or as personal anecdotes from autistic individuals. The tests are considered as "accurate online assessments", and is NOT a diagnosis. PLEASE READ THE README.md IN MY GITHUB REPOSITORY TO UNDERSTAND HOW TO RUN THE WEBPAGE I go in much more depth in it, please read it.

How I built it

I used Next.js to make the project, tailwind css for styling the webpage, react-icons for icons, react-redux to create a universal state (the toggle so it can switch between Mongolian and English), and I used NextAuth.js for authentication so the user could take the tests I provided.

Challenges I ran into

Making a universal state took quite a long time as I had never used react-redux before. Same for NextAuth.js to create a GitHub authentication. Moreover, this was my first time using Next.js

Accomplishments that I'm proud of

I'm proud of managing to create the toggle button so it can switch between Mongolian, and English as the universal state took very long.

What I learned

I leaned a LOT about Next.js and Autism in general. So many fun facts were studied during making this project.

What's next for ASD-Assist

I'm planning on creating an Instagram account for the website so people can follow and interact with it. Moreover, I plan to approach my IT teacher with my project in hopes of improving it more.
