Inspiration
We were inspired by seeing videos on YouTube that demonstrated how ASCII characters could be manipulated to look like shadows or fluids. Link to inspiration video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QMYfkOtYYlg.
What it does
The Interactive ASCII Gravity Simulator is an engaging and interactive project that provides users with a unique experience of exploring the effects of gravity on text made of ASCII characters. This fun application allows users to input alphabets and watch as they come to life on the screen, influenced by the force of gravity. For the best experience, use Mozilla Firefox.
How we built it
We built this project using JavaScript, HTML, and CSS
Challenges we ran into
We faced multiple challenges like not being able to figure out the logic behind the animation and constantly running into errors. Furthermore, it was a difficult task to make all the letter representations and to get the site working. We also had an issue with browsers not operating the same in the HTML canvas.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
We are proud of the gravity effect and having a full site. Furthermore, we are also proud of the customizability features that we have set up for the gravity simulation.
What we learned
We learned a lot about git, HTML, CSS, and JavaScript.
What's next for ASCII Gravity Simulator
We plan to add numbers and we also wish to make the site better at handling errors. Also, we plan to make the project the same across all browsers.
