Inspiration

As Cores was inspired by the everyday challenges designers and developers face when working with colors. Many existing tools focus only on generating palettes but fail to help users truly understand color relationships, accessibility, and practical application. The goal was to create a single platform that simplifies color workflows while also educating users and improving visual decision-making.

What it does

As Cores is a web-based color platform that provides tools to create color palettes and gradients, extract colors from images, convert color formats, and check contrast for accessibility. It helps users explore color harmony, improve visual consistency, and build better digital and creative projects with confidence.

How I built it

The platform was built using modern web technologies focused on speed and usability. I developed browser-based tools using HTML5, CSS3, and JavaScript, prioritizing performance and real-time interaction. The interface was designed to be clean and intuitive, ensuring that both beginners and professionals could use the tools efficiently without a learning curve.

Challenges I ran into

One of the main challenges was balancing simplicity with functionality. Creating tools that are powerful yet easy to use required multiple iterations in UI and interaction design. Another challenge was ensuring accurate color calculations across different formats while maintaining fast performance directly in the browser.

Accomplishments that I'm proud of

I’m proud of creating a unified platform that goes beyond basic color generators and focuses on education and accessibility. Building tools that deliver instant results while maintaining accuracy and usability was a major achievement, as well as designing an interface that makes complex color concepts feel simple and approachable.

What I learned

Through building As Cores, I learned the importance of user experience in tool design, performance optimization for real-time applications, and how small usability improvements can significantly impact productivity. I also gained deeper knowledge of color theory, accessibility standards, and how designers actually interact with creative tools.

What's next for As Cores

The next steps include expanding advanced color analysis features, adding smarter palette suggestions powered by data and AI, improving accessibility tools, and introducing collaboration features for teams. The long-term vision is to make As Cores a complete ecosystem for working with colors across design, development, and creative industries.
