Inspiration

India's massive RTI filing bottleneck delays 40% of the 60 lakh RTIs filed annually. We were inspired to help overwhelmed NGOs ensure valid citizen grievances don't remain unfiled or delayed.

What it does

ARZI is a bulk case management tool empowering NGOs to file RTIs efficiently. It automatically converts messy citizen grievances into legally sound RTI drafts, requiring human lawyer approval before dispatch.

How we built it

We powered the platform using Python and LLMs for intelligent drafting, Supabase for case management, ReportLab for automated PDF creation, and Email/Fax APIs for seamless government dispatch.

Challenges we ran into

Ensuring legal accuracy in automated drafting was a key challenge. We learned that mandatory human oversight and built-in audit trails are essential to maintain quality, preserve expert judgment, and drive public trust.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

We are incredibly proud to have built a system that successfully converts messy citizen grievances into legally sound RTI drafts automatically. We successfully integrated a complex tech stack—combining Python, LLMs, Supabase, and dispatch APIs—into a seamless pipeline that handles everything from initial intake to final delivery. Most importantly, we built a tool that is specifically tailored for bulk case management to support the internal operations of NGOs and legal clinics.

What we learned

We learned that while AI automation is powerful, human oversight is absolutely essential to keep outcomes accurate and legally sound. We discovered how to strike the right balance between strengthening NGO capacity and preserving human expert judgment.
