Inspiration

Touring musicians face complex logistical challenges managing schedules, venues, travel arrangements, and communication between band members, crew, and support networks. Existing solutions are either too generic or too complex, lacking the specific features needed by independent touring artists.

What it does

he platform provides:

  1. Tour Management:

    • Interactive tour calendar with real-time updates
    • Venue information database with critical details
    • Travel logistics tracking for flights and ground transportation
    • Gear inventory management system

  2. Set List Management:

    • Collaborative set list creation for trio format performances
    • Set list versioning for different venues and events
    • Song database with technical requirements and details
    • Set time calculator to optimize performance timing

  3. Communication & Coordination:

    • Role-based access control for band members, crew, and support network
    • Real-time updates between band and crew
    • Venue-specific chat channels
    • Notification system for schedule changes

  4. Artist Development:

    • Rehearsal scheduling with conflict detection
    • Practice task assignments for band members
    • Recording uploads for remote collaboration
    • Progress tracking for song development

How we built it

  • Frontend: Next.js with application router for a responsive, modern UI
  • Backend: Supabase for authentication, database, and storage
  • Deployment: Netlify for reliable hosting and CI/CD
  • Authentication: Multi-provider system with email/password, social login, and magic links
  • Communication: Integrated email and messaging system using SendGrid/SES

Challenges we ran into

Accomplishments that we're proud of

A basic level of collaboration to create tours, manage events, and invite third-parties to collaborate is in place.

What we learned

Starting on June 27th was going to be an uphill battle. Boy did we underestimate that.

What's next for ArtistHub

More collaboration improvements and starting to lock it down.
