What it does
The Artisan Marketplace is a web-based platform designed to empower artisans and skilled individuals by providing them with a dedicated digital space to showcase and sell their handmade and hobby-based products. Many artisans create unique items such as bamboo crafts, coconut shell products, woolen goods, and traditional artwork, but often struggle to reach a wider audience due to the lack of accessible online platforms.
This project addresses that gap by enabling artisans to independently register, upload, and manage their products in a simple and user-friendly environment. Unlike traditional e-commerce platforms, where only verified sellers can list products, this system allows direct participation from artisans while maintaining quality through an admin approval mechanism.
The platform is built with a role-based access control system, ensuring secure and organized interactions:
Admins manage product approvals and platform control
Artisans upload and manage their own products
Customers browse and purchase approved items safely
Developed using Django and scalable cloud technologies, the system ensures reliability, security, and smooth performance. It not only promotes digital inclusion but also helps preserve traditional craftsmanship by connecting local artisans to a broader market.
