Artifying Impact / Proof of Impact

Inspiration

Inspired by Davinci's Ideal City, the global warming challenge, and the UN 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDG)

What it does

We have created a B2B project, to address Corporate Social Responsibility for organizations. This project will help companies reach their carbon offset/net zero goal by 2030. The project features dNFTs which visualize the proof of impact created with the chosen carbon theme for eg: Fauna Series - trees planted, Ocean Series - Cleaning of the oceans, and more. As we progress to the goals the NFTs will change with the impact created.

How we built it

We built the smart contracts in solidity and used NFT.storage API for file storage. We would like to implement chainlink keepers/upkeep to automatically change the metadata of our dNFT's. For this, we will need on-chain Proof of Impact to verify in real-life implementation ( for x amount of trees planted, etc.) We would like to also incorporate Chainlink Any API. This allows us to gather real-life data to collect data and perform the upkeep and thereby changing the image of the dNFTs.

Challenges we ran into

We had a few challenges on how to structure the project: Strategy - we debated moving from 1/1 NFTs to generative NFTs, to finally settling on dNFTs. Technical - NFT Storage API was a little bit more tricky than we antici[ated. Proof Of Impact - We need a way to verify on-chain that in real-life implementation as we don't have data still. Phygital - Or project is web 2.5 as we are going to be using web2 data and we need to have a mechanism in place to bring the data on-chain. Current Market - The current carbon removal/offset market has taken a simple formula from web 2 and applied it to web 3 for eg the airline industry you are given the option to offset your current footprint whereas the damage has been happening since renaissance times as DaVinci's ideal city creation.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

Working on this project, we have clarified many goals and how we are going to achieve them going from fractionalizing to generative and finally deciding on dNFTs was one of our biggest accomplishments. Working toward tight deadlines. We worked brilliantly as a team and achieved completing our hackathon within the time constraints. Creating the idea from physical art to artifying impact is something that we feel is a great accomplishment.

What we learned

Structuring, dNFTs storing on IPFS . Watching previous chainlink hackathon videos online has been wonderful but having to take part and implement all the work and submit was a deep learning curve for all of us. We learned a lot about the SDGs, and COP 26 & COP 27 inspired us to pursue the artifying impact project deeper. We learned about how important it is for us to leave a clean and sustainable future for humanity.

What's next for Artifying Impact / Proof of Impact

We would like to apply for a grant to take the project to the next stage. We need mentorship and guidance on how to execute the on-chain proof of impact We have a multi-disciplinary team in place who are dedicated and committed to the project. We are currently working on the formulation of partnerships with ambassadors to the EU Climate Commission, The European Carbon Offset Tokenisation Association, Verifas, Toucan, and more
