✨ Inspiration
Since 2012 I’ve been creating illustrations in Procreate, and for this project I decided to take one of my creatures —the giraffe— into a new dimension: 3D interactive gameplay. My goal was to prove I could build a complete game from scratch, combining art, modeling, programming, and atmosphere. I wanted players to enter a strange, slightly sinister world where my visual style merges with interactivity.
⸻
🕹 What it does • Features an original 3D model based on my drawings. • Players interact with full JavaScript-driven gameplay logic. • Includes a leaderboard for real-time score competition. • Uses AI to create a dark and eerie environment that enhances immersion.
⸻
🛠 How I built it • Base art: original illustrations from Procreate. • 3D modeling: giraffe and environment created from zero. • Code: custom JavaScript scripts for gameplay mechanics, physics, and rules. • Leaderboard: integrated for competitive scoring. • AI: applied to visuals/atmosphere for a sinister tone. • Platform: Lens Studio, but with all assets and logic fully built from scratch.
⸻
⚔️ Challenges • Modeling and animating a 3D character from a 2D illustration. • Writing all gameplay logic in JavaScript without relying on templates. • Implementing a real-time leaderboard system. • Balancing 3D assets, 2D art, and AI atmosphere into a cohesive experience. • All art, 3D modeling, and gameplay logic were built from scratch, with no Lens Studio templates or external assets.
⸻
🏆 Accomplishments • Built a complete playable game from scratch during a hackathon. • Created my first fully original 3D character prototype. • Integrated AI, leaderboard, 3D, and JS into one workflow. • Delivered a unique eerie atmosphere that makes the game stand out.
⸻
📚 What I learned
I learned how to bring my illustration style into 3D, write full game logic from scratch, and integrate AI for atmospheric storytelling. It expanded my skillset and showed how my art can evolve into new mediums.
⸻
🚀 What’s next • Expand the universe with more 3D creatures based on my illustrations. • Refine physics and animations. • Extend the leaderboard with more features and seasonal competition. • Release a multiplayer version or port to additional platforms.
