Inspiration

What inspired me to create Art Path was when I witnessed that many people want to create art but don’t know how to start. People using Art Path can save their time as they can avoid going back and forth between tabs or screens, switching between videos and websites, to draw a piece of art as they have it all on one screen. I wanted Art Path to simplify that experience by providing an easy, step-by-step guide that taught the techniques to draw, making art accessible, simple, and easy to follow for everyone.

What it does

Art Path helps you learn to draw by searching the image, selecting it and choosing different styles, for example, realism, cartoon, anime etc. Art Path also includes many different brush strokes, along with step by step instructions. On top of that, there are unlimited lessons, so you don't have to worry about being short on ideas.

How we built it

I wanted to make learning to draw simple and approachable. I built it around a search based system that allows people to search and choose what they want to draw and by following step by step instructions on a blank canvas or paper. I built it by letting people take their time on each step, so it doesn’t feel overwhelming.

Challenges we ran into

A challenge I ran into was figuring out how to make drawing simple and effective to learn without overwhelming users. I had to think deeply about structure and step by step guidance. I also had to think creatively to maintain simplicity and clarity of the app.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

I am proud to create Art Path as a clear and creative solution to a common problem many people face when learning how to draw. Art Path is an app that helps people learn and develop new skills, and experience the world through art and the story that can be told through art.

What we learned

While building Art Path, we learned to break down a complex skill, in this case, drawing, into small, easy to follow steps that made learning how to draw less overwhelming and achievable. This project taught me how to build a creative idea into a meaningful solution.

What's next for Art Path

Art Path could introduce interactive feedback to help users improve as they draw. Users would also be able to compare their drawings to each step, while receiving guidance or suggestions for improvement, making the whole learning process easier and supportive. Art Path could offer creative challenges and themed drawing paths that encourage users to practice regularly and explore new styles. The long term goal of Art Path is to be a trusted platform where anyone can confidently follow a path converting a blank page into meaningful art.
