Inspiration

Art Bear's Lost & Found is inspired by the magic of childhood, creativity & the belief that nothing is too lost it can't be found. The visual language of the world is inspired by Pixar’s Toy Story & vintage gaming graphics. It's a nostalgic and playfyul simulation game about the heartwarming friendship between Art Bear and his 8 year old owner, Sam.

What it does

A cozy simulation adventure game where players explore everyday environments, solve environmental puzzles & get rewarded for recovering Sam's lost items . Every item found earns rewards, unlocks new locations, and reveals more about Art Bear's imaginative world.

Explore → Collect Object → Recognize Environmental Obstacle → Use collectible to solve obstacle → Reach Hidden Area → Recover Lost Item → Increase Discovery Score

How we built it

Art Bear's Lost & Found was built through a hybrid sketching, ideation method to allow gamers to get a feel of the world and aesthetic. The game is planned to be built on Meta Horizon's Mobile app.

Challenges we ran into

A major challenge was balancing relaxing exploration with engaging progression. The innovative solution for this was creating a novel point system termed the Discovery Score —a unique scoring system that rewards both efficient item recovery and curiosity. Players earn higher scores by finding lost objects quickly while also discovering optional side quests, encouraging exploration without sacrificing replayability.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

The nostalgic look and feel. The novel core loop and the potential for the game to have more environments and even Art Bear merch in the future.

• Designing a simple but rewarding exploration-focused gameplay loop.
• Developing a scalable concept that can expand through new environments, collectibles, seasonal content, and future Art Bear toy merchandise.

High level game design thinking and ideation skills. This project strengthened skills in game design, player progression, production planning.

What's next for Art Bear's Lost & Found

Future development would focus on expanding the game's content and personalization, including:

• Additional environments, beginning with the Bath Time level.
• Collectible doodle-inspired Art Bear skins.
• An interactive Art Bear toy that connects the physical and digital experience.
• More collectible stories and world-building that deepen the friendship between Sam and Art Bear.

This next phase would transform Art Bear's Lost & Found from a single cozy adventure into a growing world players can continue exploring over time.
