Inspiration

Flooding in Myanmar leaves communities vulnerable, often facing delayed emergency responses due to communication gaps and infrastructure challenges. Arr.Ai was born out of a desire to close these gaps, using AI to create faster, more reliable responses to safeguard lives and build resilience.

What it does

How we built it

Arr.Ai is powered by AI, machine learning, and computer vision, trained on thousands of data points, including images and videos, to recognize risks during floods. We utilized cloud computing for data storage and mapping for visualization, creating a robust system that unites critical resources for on-the-ground impact.

Challenges we ran into

Building reliable models with limited local data and ensuring connectivity in rural areas posed initial hurdles, but we adapted by optimizing for offline use and partnering with telecom providers.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

From live distress detection to community connections, Arr.Ai is more than tech. It's saving lives and strengthening communities. We’ve developed a scalable, effective tool that addresses a real need.

What we learned

We discovered that AI in disaster relief goes beyond tech—it builds trust and provides hope. Engaging with communities and understanding their unique needs have been crucial steps in making Arr.Ai a truly impactful tool.

What's next for Arr. Ai

Next steps involve scaling our tech across more regions and adding functionalities for other natural disasters, like earthquakes, to broaden its impact. Moving forward, we plan to expand our reach to more companies which do CSR, communities, improve the efficiency of our systems, and develop partnerships with NGOs and local governments to facilitate broader adoption. We aim to add education and training programs to equip residents with the skills to manage and maintain the systems, ensuring long-term success.
