Inspiration

Getting started with investing can be intimidating. New investors often have to search through multiple websites for news, stock data, technical indicators, and financial explanations before making a decision. Even experienced investors can miss important market-moving announcements or struggle to determine the best time to enter or exit a trade. We wanted to create a platform that simplifies stock research by bringing everything together in one place and using AI to explain complex information in a way that's easy to understand.

What it does

Our website helps users make more informed investment decisions by combining real-time stock information, AI-powered analysis, market news, volatility ratings, and technical indicators. Users can monitor their portfolio, receive updates that affect their investments, view AI-generated buy/sell ratings, and use the MACD indicator to help identify potential entry and exit points.

How we built it

We built the website using modern web development technologies and integrated stock market and news APIs to provide up-to-date information. AI was used to analyze news articles, summarize market events, and explain how those events may affect individual stocks. During development, we also used Claude Code as an AI coding assistant to help generate, debug, and refine parts of the application, allowing us to prototype features more efficiently while maintaining control over the overall design, functionality, and implementation.

Challenges we ran into

One of the biggest challenges was combining data from multiple sources into a single, user-friendly interface. Another challenge was ensuring that the AI provided useful insights without making unrealistic promises about stock performance. We also found that relying solely on the MACD indicator was not reliable enough, highlighting the importance of combining multiple technical indicators and market conditions before generating investment guidance.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

We are proud of successfully creating a functional stock advising platform that brings together real-time market news, AI-powered stock analysis, volatility ratings, portfolio tracking, and technical indicators in one easy-to-use website. Rather than requiring users to switch between multiple platforms, our solution simplifies the investment research process and makes complex financial information more accessible, especially for beginners. We are also proud of integrating AI to explain stock movements in a clear and understandable way, building a clean and intuitive user interface, and successfully combining multiple data sources into a seamless experience. Despite the technical challenges involved, we developed a working application that demonstrates how AI can help investors make more informed and confident decisions.

What we learned

This project taught us how to integrate APIs, build AI-assisted features, and design a web application focused on usability. We also gained a better understanding of technical analysis, market psychology, and the limitations of AI in financial decision-making. Most importantly, we learned that AI should support investors by simplifying research and explaining information—not by replacing human judgment.

What's next for Stocks Advisor

In future versions, we plan to add an interactive AI investment assistant capable of answering personalized questions, combine MACD with additional indicators such as RSI, moving averages, and volume analysis for more reliable trading signals, implement customizable price and news alerts, provide portfolio performance analytics, and develop a mobile application to make the platform even more accessible.
