Inspiration

Travel to dream destinations may have come to a halt, but the dream itself doesn't need to wait. We can bridge between aspiring travellers and local destination hosts and guides to continue to share the experience. On the receiving end of our travel dreams are the people whose livelihoods depend on keeping these experiences alive.

What it does

Armchair Globetrotter connects travellers from all over with local guides in dream destinations to provide personalised virtual trips. Search for and plan private virtual tours of museums, monuments, UNESCO heritage sites, guided nature walks, local cooking and craft courses, and participate through immersive videoconference.

How I built it

Armchair Globetrotter provides a marketplace for tour guides to post their virtual itineraries which travellers can select, schedule and book. At the start of the planned event, both parties are videoconferenced together and the tour begins.
Tech includes web marketplace solutions, effectively a tour booking site (ex: Viator, etc.) + videoconference solution.

Challenges I ran into
