Inspiration
Our inspiration sprouts from the challenging life student endure to keep up with the deadlines given during the year. We decided to aid students with their time management skills.
What it does
The website keeps track of the time left to exams and holiday periods in a day and hour format and gives a particular attention to the exact day left to the events.
How we built it
We have deployed a variety of coding languages to bind together great display and annoying functionality. The main language to create the core structure of the website has been HTML. With this language we have created the different paragraphs, headers and buttons needed. CSS has been our tool to ameliorate and be creative with the design, this language has made our website the most weird and boring looking one. Finally we used JavaScript to ensure the functionality of the countdownwas precise. We applied this language to make the normal website more user friendly with hoovering and colour changing while for the weird website it has given it the flavour of a mad place, with paragraph shifting left and right and moving around.
Challenges we ran into
There has been two main challenges we ran into during the creation of this faboulous website. The first is the length of the code we created. The JavaScript code had to be really detailed to allow the format that we wanted for the timer to be the same as we imagined it. Secondly, we were really unfamiliar with the code. Been new to the implementation of javascript, particularly to nodes, we had to put in the effort to research, gain knowledge and familiarity with this type of language.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
The website itself is a great accomplishment we are proud of. Particularly the functionality of it, along with the weird display of it. The team effort and contributions added value and knowledge. Finally we are proud of helping students to survive the adventure of university.
What we learned
This has been a really insightful event, we have learned more skills related to coding and teamwork. We have learn how to implement JavaScript, we have enhanced our social skills and our communication skills. We were able to collaborate and refine our teamwork and networking skills
What's next for Armageddon
Armageddon is just at the start of its way to help and sustain students in their endeavours to graduation. Armageddon will have more functionality to allow students to insert their deadlines for assignments during the year or add activities or events they want to attend to.
