Inspiration
Our life stories are being lost. Despite dramatic advances in technology, our personal and family histories are more fragile than ever. We use mobile devices to snap pictures but seldom record the context around them. We communicate in ever shrinking formats, rarely put pen to paper and the files containing our memories are fragmented. Arkiver helps families save and share their life stories.
What it does
Arkiver is an easy and beautiful way to collect, organize, preserve, share and enjoy memories: Collect your photos, videos notes and documents from any device and online accounts like Facebook. Organize your memories and add meaning through descriptions & tags. Share your moments privately with family and friends in ways that make sense for you. Preserve your moments securely on cloud storage like Dropbox and by printing them to services like Walgreens.
How I built it
Started with proof of concept web app and incorporated a lot of user feedback to improve functionality and features. We have a full-time CTO and contract out iOS and Android app development.
Challenges I ran into
Maintaining focus on key features - there's so many cool new things we want to add to Arkiver!
Accomplishments that I'm proud of
Launching the web app in beta. Developing the iOS app and launching it in beta.
What I learned
Good things take time.
What's next for Arkiver
Public launch of iPhone, iPad and Android phone and tablet apps in early 2016.
