Inspiration
The app, Arise: Student Startup Toolkit, was inspired by the challenges students face when embarking on their entrepreneurial journeys. Recognizing the complexities of creating business plans, managing finances, and pitching ideas, we envisioned a tool that simplifies the entrepreneurial process and empowers students to turn their ideas into reality.
What it does
Arise is an all-in-one toolkit for aspiring entrepreneurs. It features a step-by-step Business Plan Builder with interactive templates, a Budget Calculator Tutorial that simplifies financial concepts, and a Shark Tank-inspired Pitch Deck Creator. The app also includes Startup Guides with checklists and resources, an Idea Validation Tool for assessing business feasibility, a Networking Hub for connecting with mentors and peers, and daily motivational content to keep users inspired.
How we built it
We developed Arise using Unity for its dynamic user interface capabilities and flexibility. The app's modular design allows users to navigate features like the Budget Calculator and Pitch Deck Creator seamlessly. Each tool integrates simple yet effective logic to ensure a user-friendly experience. For instance, the Business Plan Builder uses default templates that can be customized to suit the user’s needs, while the Idea Validation Tool leverages a questionnaire to provide personalized recommendations.
Challenges we ran into
One significant challenge was ensuring the app's features were both intuitive and comprehensive. Balancing simplicity with functionality required multiple iterations and extensive user feedback. Additionally, implementing dynamic data management for tools like the Budget Calculator posed technical hurdles, which we addressed with modular scripting and optimized workflows.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
We’re proud of creating an app that makes entrepreneurship accessible to students of all backgrounds. The inclusion of motivational content and success stories adds a unique touch, fostering confidence and resilience among users.
What we learned
Throughout the project, we deepened our understanding of user-centric design and the importance of adaptability in development. We also learned how to simplify complex processes, such as business planning and budgeting, into actionable steps that empower users to take initiative with confidence.
What's next for Arise: Student Startup Toolkit
The next steps for Arise include adding data visualization features like graphs for expense tracking, incorporating AI-powered business plan suggestions, and expanding collaboration tools to enable team-based projects. We also plan to grow the resource marketplace with exclusive discounts and partnerships to further support aspiring entrepreneurs. Our ultimate goal is to continuously evolve Arise into the go-to platform for student entrepreneurs worldwide.
