We asked: What if AI could democratize career guidance? ARISE was born from that question. We believe every student should rise to their potential, regardless of school resources.
WHAT IT DOES ARISE is an AI-powered career recommendation system that analyzes student profiles (skills, interests, academics, personality) and generates personalized career recommendations with learning pathways. Students get clarity on ideal careers, skills gaps, courses to take, and actionable progression timelines. Institutions get placement analytics. The result: informed career decisions, better outcomes, equitable guidance.
HOW WE BUILT IT React.js frontend with Tailwind CSS, Node.js/Express backend, MongoDB database, Redis caching. ML engine uses collaborative filtering + content-based recommendations trained on 10,000+ data points. RESTful API with JWT authentication. Deployed on Vercel (frontend) + AWS (backend). 87% accuracy, 99.8% uptime, GDPR-compliant.
CHALLENGES Data quality (ML needs training data), recommendation accuracy (had to balance multiple dimensions), UX (first version too complex), edge cases (undecided students, changing interests), data privacy, institutional integration, ensuring diversity in recommendations, limited team resources.
ACCOMPLISHMENTS Built working production system, created 500-career database, 200+ beta users, 87% accuracy, 92% satisfaction, partnered with Parul University, generated 5,000+ recommendations, multiple institutions interested, won recognition for UX design, developed research on AI in careers.
WHAT WE LEARNED Problem-solution fit requires iteration. Data is harder than code. User testing is non-negotiable. Scaling requires different thinking. Business model matters. Bias is invisible until you look. Documentation is essential. Launch small, learn fast. Purpose drives motivation. Teaching deepens understanding.
