Ari - Your Personal Stylist

Inspiration

This project supports Aritzia's goals of expanding into the US through the use of e-commerce, as detailed in their five year plan. Encouraging users to interact with Artizia in a unique way on an online platform will attract customers to the Aritzia website. By providing users with a "style personality" and personalized recommendations that can be shared online, this project will take social media by storm, utilizing social media as one of the most worlds most powerful marketing tools. The "style personality" and product recommendations are made only from user inputted answers that focus on who a person is, not what they look like, empowering users to be comfortable in their own body.

What it does

This application will prompt users to fill out a survey filled with lifestyle questions. These answers are fed into a machine learning model that will use the survey responses to predict the users "style personality" and some recommendations which will be shareable over social media.

How we built it

We used IntelliJ and Android Studio to create an app demonstration, as well as Jupyter notebook to create a machine learning model. We supported our pitch using Canva and Google Docs.

Challenges we ran into

We ran into a challenge linking the machine learning model with the app. Specifically, we struggled to create a csv file from a String[], and then link that csv file to the machine learning model to display results back to the user.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

We are very proud of having concrete parts of our project to show to the judges. Furthermore, we are very proud of how we worked together as a team, with each team member having a different strength they brought to the table.

What we learned

We learned that it is super important to consider the business plan of the company you are creating a project for. Taking into account the company's mission and goals to solve a problem or implement a new measure can elevate your project to the next level.

What's next for Ari - Your Personal Stylist

In the future, we hope to integrate the machine learning model and front end application to create a cohesive project that could be used on the Artizia website to increase user engagement.
