Inspiration
NAS folders hold more than isolated files: they contain projects, collections and shared resources. Returning after a break means reconstructing what belongs together, which materials depend on each other, and what was decided previously. Search helps locate a file, but it does not by itself establish a maintained project contract.
What it does
ArgusNAS builds a private Markdown atlas from explicitly authorized folders. It records candidate projects and collections, roles, source evidence, typed relationships and accepted user corrections. It restores that context in another conversation, reconciles changes, explains affected consumers and proposes organization while keeping originals read-only. Four profiles cover websites, digitized vinyl, video collections and trip memories. Shared assets can belong to multiple spaces.
How it is built
A Markdown parent Skill delegates to registered UGREEN file, document, knowledge and optionally photo experts using documented capabilities. Immutable atlas generations are written to an authorized private destination, independently read and hashed before a final COMMIT. Permission checks, bounded passes, partial coverage, source revisions and failure states remain explicit. One principal and one writer are supported. No custom executable, general-purpose runtime, background watcher or source-file move is included in the Skill.
Current evidence
The pre-NAS handoff criteria are complete. The official checker passes the exact package. Separate model evaluators completed 27 multi-turn controlled expert-contract scenarios and a separate operator rehearsal. One synthetic D1 run accounted for 40 files, found all 24 authored reference edges and all eight missing targets, within 30 deep reads and 60 delegations. Ten assets remained metadata-only and explicitly queued. These are offline controlled-contract results, not evidence of installation or real UGREEN execution, generalized accuracy or superiority over native search.
Challenges and limits
The real NAS must validate saved paths, fresh-session recovery, effective permissions, model processing route, expert behavior and supported-format extraction. Source apply and background operation remain disabled. Metadata/sidecars do not imply audio/video understanding. Cache and generation validation must remain safe under denied reads and incomplete publication.
Next steps
On the assigned device, execute synthetic scope/privacy/persistence gates first, then restore corrections in three fresh sessions, synchronize controlled mutations, verify failed publication recovery and record the actual workflow. No private archive is processed before required gates pass.
