Inspiration

We were inspired by how fast people can build apps and startups with AI today. Tools like Claude, Cursor, and ChatGPT make it possible to create software quickly, but security often gets ignored. Many startups don't have enough money or cybersecurity experience, which makes them easy targets for hackers. We wanted to create something that gives startups an easy way to stay secure without needing a full security team.

What it does

Argus is an AI-powered cybersecurity platform that helps startups protect their software, infrastructure, and AI agents.

It can:

  • Find security vulnerabilities
  • Monitor production systems
  • Detect sensitive data leaks
  • Secure AI agents
  • Help companies meet compliance requirements
  • Learn from past security issues

Argus makes cybersecurity much easier by automating tasks that would normally require a team of security experts.

How we built it

We built Argus around a self-improving MCP engine that acts as the brain of the platform.

The system follows a simple loop:

  1. Detect security problems
  2. Enforce security rules
  3. Fix the issue
  4. Learn from the results

We also designed a dashboard that shows system health, security alerts, production status, and pipeline information. The platform was built to work with tools that startups already use, such as GitHub, AWS, databases, and AI coding tools.

Challenges we ran into

One of the biggest challenges was figuring out how to secure both regular software and AI agents. AI creates new security risks like prompt injections and rogue agents that traditional security tools were not designed for.

Another challenge was making the platform powerful while still keeping it simple enough for startups to use. We wanted Argus to be easy to set up without sacrificing security.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

We are proud that Argus does more than just scan for vulnerabilities.

Some things we are especially proud of include:

  • AI agent security
  • Automated issue resolution
  • Continuous learning
  • Compliance support
  • End-to-end security coverage
  • A centralized dashboard

We are also proud of creating a system that gets smarter over time instead of relying only on fixed security rules.

What we learned

During this project, we learned a lot about cybersecurity, AI security, cloud infrastructure, and compliance.

We also learned that many startups struggle with security because they are focused on building products quickly. Automation is becoming more important as software development speeds up, and security tools need to be simple if people are actually going to use them.

What's next for Argus

Next, we want to turn Argus into a fully working product that real startups can use.

Some of our future goals include:

  • Building deeper cloud integrations
  • Improving AI agent security
  • Expanding the learning engine
  • Creating reusable security pipelines
  • Working with compliance partners

Our long-term goal is to make Argus the standard security layer for AI-powered software development.
