Inspiration
ARena is inspired by the opportunity to present physical exercise as an incentivized game. 5 insanely strong shadow enemies to fight. Punch them, Kick them, Block their attacks in real time to defeat these indestructible gods in mortal combat.
What it does
Essentially, ARena serves two purposes: first to provide entertainment in a game against the mighty bosses, second to get us lazy humans to get up and do some physical exercise in the disguise of this game. No, seriously. This might be one of the best cardio exercise game you will play to keep yourself challenged and engaged. But wait, you must need VR or Nintendo switch to play it, not at all. All you need is your laptop screen and you can get right into these fights, making it the most accessible to play in this domain.
How we built it
We have used libraries like opencv, mediapipe, pygame, numpy to build the entire game in Python and we are using Gemini API to calibrate your position, track hand and leg movements like punches, kicks, blocks, etc.
Challenges we ran into
This was a relatively smooth project as we were able to implement things pretty fast, but one challenge that we ran into was brainstorming for unique bosses and the type of unique strengths/power moves they will use in the fights.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
The hit registration and the boss designs are something we really invested our time in and they came out really good. The hit blocks for your moves and the bosses' moves are pretty well defined, making this experience very real.
What we learned
We learned about hit registration, creating damage algorithm and designing the physics of moves in this game.
What's next for ARena: Fit Fighter
After the end of hackathon, our team will meet to fine tune this game, adding smaller details, before having a discussion to whether publish it on Steam.
