Motivated by the complexities of Arctic shipping routes, we created a navigation tool that employs a Pareto-optimal pathfinding algorithm and image analysis to optimize speed, fuel consumption, and safety simultaneously. Through Perlin noise-based ice simulation and physics modeling, we gained expertise in managing competing objectives across the Pareto frontier. The most significant obstacle we overcame was preventing smooth navigation paths from crossing landmasses, which we addressed through comprehensive Line-of-Sight clearance checks.
