Inspiration
Here's a disturbing statistic: a candidate's resume is viewed for an average of 7-9 seconds by a recruiter in the current job market. This fast-paced, cutthroat, selection process paired with implicit bias can alienate perfectly qualified applicants. Archetype bridges the gap between recruiters and candidates by eliminating potential bias and empowering recruiters to be more deliberate with the selection process.
What it does
Archetype is reminiscent of the popular left-right swiping algorithms used in matchmaking applications. A recruiter is presented with a candidate's profile which includes several attributes such education, work experience, skills, accolades, volunteering, etc. The recruiter can then approve or deny these attributes which ultimately results in a type match or a recirculation of the candidate's profile.
How we built it
Archetype was built using the React framework with a backend in Firebase and deployed using Vercel.
Challenges we ran into
Implementing each feature was difficult without a full team, but I made sure to set realistic development goals to prevent burnout.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
I wanted to have full creative, operational, and executive control over this project so I opted to work by myself. While it was challenging because I did not have teammates to balance the load, I am very proud of the work I produced in the allotted time.
What we learned
Some skills I learned and reinforced during this process:
1) Time Management 2) Prioritization of Needs vs Wants 3) Problem Solving
What's next for Archetype | Bias-Free Professional Recruitment
It would be ideal to create a dedicated mobile application for this project for better hardware compatibility and user experience.
