Arcane Trading Simulator
Arcane Trading Simulator is a game where you can try yourself in trading crypto coins (and later, stocks). Stocks are not yet available, but they will be added in the future.
It’s an environment where you don’t have to risk your own money because everything is virtual — but at the same time, you trade with real market data. The data is historical, but you never know from which exact period it’s taken, so every session is still a surprise.
But that’s not everything, it’s also a roguelike game! Each time you start a trading session, you can pick and use arcane powers to bend the market, gain advantages, and earn more. It’s both fun and challenging.
The game has a system of upgrades, and I have many more in mind that I’ll add in the future. It works like a roguelike: you start a trading session, pick a random upgrade, then trade and try to reach a specific milestone. If you reach it, you move to the next round and select another pack of random upgrades.
In that sense, it’s similar to game like Balatro, which combines poker and roguelike mechanics. In my case, it’s a chaotic market instead of poker, and the upgrades help you trade better.
I’m a huge fan of roguelikes and have played most of the indie hits in that genre. I always wanted to build one myself, and this is my attempt. I’m also curious about crypto trading, but I’m not a trader and don’t want to risk money, it feels like gambling to me. So this game lets you experience the excitement of trading without any real-world risk.
Why I think it’s a good fit for Reddit
When I was thinking about what to build for Reddit, I considered a few key things:
Instant experience.
Reddit feed implies short sessions — you see a post, try the game, and spend under a minute. Arcane Trading Simulator fits that perfectly: a round lasts around 30 seconds, and even if you go further, it only takes a few minutes.
Meta loop.
There should be something you accumulate between sessions, something you value. In this game, that’s your portfolio.
As you trade different coins and, later, stocks, you’ll be able to collect them, invest your virtual earnings, and track their performance based on real market data. This will give more meaning to earning money during trading sessions since you can reinvest it.
Relevant topic.
Finance and crypto are big on Reddit. I think there’s already a strong audience interested in this theme.
Community interaction.
The game already has a basic leaderboard where you can see who’s the richest trader. I plan to expand this with:
- Leaderboards for each coin and stock (e.g., who traded Bitcoin best)
- A PvP mode, where you and another player trade using the same data seed for a coin or stock and compare results
- Public investment portfolios that players can share and others can like
There’s a lot that can be done for community engagement.
Development and Reddit experience
I’m really excited about Reddit as a platform for apps and games. The development process was smooth, much simpler compared to building for other emerging or Layer-2 platforms, where the learning curve is much steeper.
Having both the client and server in one environment is super convenient, and I’m looking forward to seeing what more the platform will allow in the future.
The only thing I didn’t have time to improve yet is the splash screen. Right now it’s static and only shows the coin name. I plan to make it more interactive later.
