Inspiration - Our high-school had different arcade machines throughout the classes which were fun and engaging to play with. They brought back child hood memories and we decided that we wanted to create something similar to that while also testing out our coding skills.
What it does - They are 6 different 2D games. The Worlds Easiest Game (1 and 2) are both inspired from The World's Hardest Game. Pong is a classic arcade game along with Spacerace. Tron is a recreation of the iconic tron light cycles from the movie. We also decided to put TicTacToe because its a classic that everyone has played before.
How we built it - We used C# along with Visual Studio to create the design as well as the code behind the games. We also used PixilArt software for some of the art work.
Challenges we ran into - We initially decided to create one project that would hold all the games, similar to an arcade machine, but we began to run into problems when it came down to combining all the different files into one, so we ended up showcases each project separately.
Accomplishments that we're proud of - We were able to make 6 different and unique games within the 36 hour time frame.
What we learned - We learned a lot more about C# and manipulating forms within Visual Studio. We also tried experimenting with a computer in TicTacToe to go against the user. We learned about collision and how to implement it throughout most of the games.
What's next for Arcade Games - We want to pursue with our games that we have created and eventually create one project that will be able to hold all the different games. Last but not least, since our high-school was a big inspiration, we want to give back by creating a group of games for the future generation of students.
