Inspiration
Our project aims to complement Arc'teryx's existing circular economy initiatives - ReCARE, ReGEAR, ReCUT and ReBIRD - By introducing a new option - the ability to rent products from the ReGEAR site. This expansion enables more individuals, particularly those in marginalized communities, to engage in outdoor activities that might otherwise be hindered by equipment barriers.
After experiencing the product, consumers will have the opportunity to purchase the rental item, fostering brand awareness, reputation, and loyalty, while also promoting ReGEAR items. This initiative further facilitates accessible outdoor pursuits, known to enhance overall health and wellness.
What it does
Our proposal focuses on the initial implementation of our new feature, which involves creating a customized survey and chatbot interaction for consumers. At the beginning stages of their rental period, customers will engage with our chatbot to address any inquiries or concerns they may have. Towards the end of their rental period, they will be directed to a webpage where they can complete a simple survey or continue their conversation with our tailored and trained chatbot.
This approach ensures that we gather valuable feedback from customers regarding their rental experience, allowing us to continuously improve our services and tailor them to their needs. Additionally, it provides customers with a convenient platform to voice their opinions and concerns, fostering a positive and interactive relationship between our business and our clientele.
How we built it
Utilizing a combination of HTML, CSS, and JavaScript, we constructed the webpage interface to facilitate the interaction between our customers and our rental platform. In parallel, we employed Langchain to customize a dataset specifically tailored to the needs and preferences of Arc'teryx's customer base. Additionally, we integrated the ChatGPT API, leveraging its capabilities to provide personalized responses and recommendations based on Arc'teryx's product data.
Challenges we ran into
The main hurdles were twofold.
Firstly, devising meaningful strategies to engage consumers while prioritizing sustainability and promoting wellness was quite difficult. To address this, we aligned our efforts with existing Arc'teryx initiatives, leveraging established foundations to ensure feasibility and scalability.
Secondly, integrating our frontend and backend was challenging. To address this, we utilized tools like Postman to comprehensively understand and seamlessly integrate APIs.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
We're proud to have developed a solution that contributes significantly to wellness and sustainability, particularly by breaking down accessibility barriers. Additionally, we're thrilled to unveil a fully functional webpage and leverage LLMs to revolutionize the user experience within the ecommerce domain.
What we learned
We learned valuable skills in building from frontend to backend, as well as honing our ability to critically analyze challenges specific to companies or markets.
What's next for ARC'TRY
In the future, we envision our solution expanding to reach a new demographic of consumers who have not yet been engaged by Arc'teryx. As this growth occurs, our website's features will evolve to reflect their evolving needs. This may involve incorporating more computer vision features to enable virtual try-ons or developing community-building apps to foster a stronger sense of community among users.
