Inspiration
We were participating in Star Girl Africa summer program, I am Egyptian and my team work is Egyptian, so we are North Africans. In the beginning, we thought about making a project that would benefit our continent, but as a start, we decided to specialize in a specific part of this very large continent, and we started in terms of the part closest to us, which is the Arabs of Africa. Our website aims to address the educational issue of programming and AI not being included in the schools and educational curricula of Arab countries. We have developed a solution to this problem by providing free learning opportunities in programming.
What it does
One of the main challenges faced by new learners is the language barrier. Even if a person is fluent in multiple languages, it is preferable to learn something as complex as programming in their mother tongue. To overcome this obstacle, we have created a website that offers programming courses specifically in Arabic, thus facilitating the learning journey for students.
Our website offers a wide range of resources, including over 461 free Arabic videos taught by eight different teachers specializing in Python. We also cover other programming languages such as C++ and web development languages like HTML, CSS, and JavaScript. By providing courses in Arabic, we ensure that students can grasp the concepts and techniques more effectively.
Additionally, our website keeps students informed about various opportunities such as programs, competitions, and job openings. This allows them to apply their newly acquired knowledge and skills in real-world scenarios, further enhancing their learning experience
How we built it
One of the team members was taking a course in Web Development, but we didn't only rely on the course. We also used YouTube and self- learning to develop it. We asked our friend who is studying Computer Science at the university to help us with some technical problems.
Challenges we ran into
We are beginners so it was hard for us to make a whole project or website after less than one month of learning,but it was a great experience.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
The facilitatores in Star Girl Africa summer program were proud of us because we're contributing to make programming available in more than one language and we made the website after less than one month of learning. We're proud that our project helped some people learning more about programming.
What's next for Arab Code
As I said before, we want this website to help not just the Arabs,but the whole contenant and them the whole world by offering opportunities. We're just taking it step by step.
