Inspiration

Augmented reality is a useful technology for shopping. Customers can see the products in one-to-one dimensions with augmented reality without going to the stores. And now they can try these products. With this prototype lense I developed, I experienced being able to try and buy shoes in real time. This prototype can become reality when payment systems are integrated into lenses.

What it does

It shows the shoe models on the user's feet in real time. The user can try different shoe models. And this process takes place inside a virtual store.

How we built it

  • 3D Models
  • Foot Tracker
  • Code to check the user entering a room and displaying the room behind the portals

Challenges we ran into

Using the foot tracker and the portal at the same time was challenging. Because the gpu was working enough during the two processes. Necessary optimizations were made for this.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

It is an honor for me to prototype a technology that will work in the future. I'm sure this prototype will really work soon and companies will be able to sell their products with augmented reality lenses. Users will also be able to try and buy products from their home.

What we learned

It takes a lot of hard work to have a useful lens. Especially if you want to turn a product into a sale, you need to work much more carefully.

What's next for AR Shopping

I plan to add more products. I plan to turn it into a full shopping lens and work with real brands. Who knows, maybe we can see this lens as the lens of a brand soon.
