Medisafe and similar such apps to track pill consumption have been great for patients and doctors alike, but there's still several steps we can take to improve upon these apps and make them more user friendly and capable for their users. The high rate of low vision among the elderly in particular suggests that computer vision could go a very long way to help users find the right pill when they need it, and record accordingly.
What it does
Identify the correct pill to be taken at a given time of day or day of the week, and help the user find that pill in the correct bottle. In hospital scenarios, the app could also record and remember a patients needs based on their hospital bracelet, and instruct nurses and other healthcare what medications or other treatments they require next..
