Taking notes by hand has been proven to boost information retention, and as students it is important to us to improve our study habits. However, handwriting notes isn’t always convenient in a digitally-driven world where everything is in the computer screen. Through OpenCV for Unity, AR note taking takes digital documents and virtually projects them onto a real piece of paper using optical flow and feature detection. The document called is a JPEG file, and is called by a series of numbers that can be read through OCR text recognition. Then, any written marks on the paper will be detected and recorded onto the virtual document. The document can then be saved with the notes for later reference. AR note taking is being tested through a phone, but in the future will be extended to run with Google Glass.
