We realized that a lot of the things we did in a pre-covid world were pretty unsanitary. One of the things that many people don't think twice about is reaching for a restaurant menu. So we asked ourselves: once it is safe to eat out again, how can we increase hygienic practices? That is when we came up with the idea for AR.estaurant

What it does

AR.estaurant will allow customers to bypass physical menus and instead see 3D versions of dishes using Augmented Reality.

How we built it

We built the website using HTML and CSS, we hosted our dishes using echoAR and then linked those models back to our website. We created a concept for what our 3D scanning app will look like using .

Challenges we ran into

We had some issues finding the right site to host our 3D models. It wasn't until the second day that we realized how great echoAR was for our needs.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

This was our first hackathon so we could not be more proud of it. We are so happy that we were able to get all the coding done in time and we had so much fun working with all the dish models. It was nice showing off AR to our family too!

What we learned

We learned so much! We improved our coding, learned about AR, and gained knowledge about the many tools available to see ideas come to life.

What's next for AR.estaurant

Our next steps is to learn swift and create an app that will make it easier for restaurants to scan their dishes and then upload it with ease to echoAR.
