Inspiration
I was inspired by the many different topics learned in AP environmental. I believe that there are many kinds of things that I realized would be impacting our environment, no matter how little that would have been. Thus, I made something educational and easy to interact with and learn about, especially in making many people environmentally aware when using my website.
What it does
It's a data source of a bunch of different kinds of seafood, and if one were to click on the specific animal or source that is needed, then a popup will display lots of different information about its environmental impact, specifically in the way that it is farmed and fished to go to our grocery stores and plates.
How we built it
I built it off of visual studio code and learned with many tutorials and examples to create my version of a website.
Challenges we ran into
I have never coded HTML, CSS, or JavaScript before going into this project. I originally wanted to code with languages that I was familiar with, which were Java and Python, but quickly realized that if I were to make the website that I wanted to make, I would need to switch languages. It was a fun challenge, but still extremely hard to learn within 3 days.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
I am definitely proud of creating the website within the timeframe given. Although my website is not perfect by any means, I am ecstatic to have made my first website ever!
What we learned
I've learned a little bit in making HTML, CSS, and Javascript, but more so in HTML and CSS. Although they were hard to get a hang of, in the end, I was able to pull it through together.
What's next for Aquatic Animals Website
My website is merely a framework for a website that I want to make. I would definitely love to add API's more data, a different webpage altogether to have the seafood data base on the website, and also a search bar to search up different kinds of seafood from there. I would also like to change the design of the website as well.
