Inspiration

When we were brainstorming ideas for our product, we realized that environmental problems are way incredibly overlooked. A lot of people genuinely want to help the environment, but they don't know where to start or where to find opportunities to take action even though many large NGOS exists. Others don't see the point in participating when big companies and millions of other people will continue polluting our waterbodies and the rest of the planet anyway.

But we do see a point, because at the end of the day, we all want to live in a better world, even if many people have already started losing hope that we can create one.

With AquaRise, we wanted to build a real community and invite people to take action.

That's also why we've tried to make the platform as accessible and simple as possible. We want it to be something people can actually use to make a difference.

What it does

AquaRise is an environmental platform designed to make taking action for our waters easier. The idea is simple: discover polluted beaches, rivers, lakes, and other waterbodies, learn why they need attention, and connect with real cleanup opportunities already organized by environmental groups.

How we built it

We learned how to use Google Antigravity from zero and started implementing it and sharing our ideas. We also used Vercel for the deployment, Supabase for the data base and Github for our repository.

Challenges we ran into

As any vibecoder, bugs, errors and a lot of mistakes happened for a long time. When we thought we fixed something another error appeared.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

We were recognized in three categories during DoraHacks 2.0 and received a total of $3,300 USD in prize awards. We're very proud of this recognition because it validated the work we put into building and launching AquaRise.

What we learned

We learned how to be resilent and how to adapt when things didn't go as planned. We also gained experience with new tools such as Google Antigravity and Vercel, which helped us turn our ideas into a working product.

What's next for AquaRise

AquaRise was originally developed during/around the Dorahacks 2.0 and subsequently continued to be developed and expanded. Our goal is to grow AquaRise into a global platform and build collaborations with more NGOS and environmental organizations around the world.
