This is built by a SINGLE person, who has stayed on the river side during my childhood. Seeing a lot of algae on the Kauvery River in India motivated me to do this initiative. The technology wasnt there then. It is possible today thanks to 5G + IoT + AWS

AquaPulse is a next-generation, cloud-native solution for real-time harmful algae bloom (HAB) monitoring, analytics, and citizen engagement. It leverages AWS generative AI, IoT, and advanced cloud services to deliver actionable insights, automate response, and empower communities and authorities to drive measurable environmental impact. 🌍💡

AquaPulse was inspired by the increasing threat of harmful algae blooms (HABs) to aquatic ecosystems and public health. Observing the detrimental effects of pollution and climate change on water bodies, we aimed to create a solution that empowers communities to monitor and respond effectively to these environmental challenges.

AquaPulse Architecture

Cloud Ingestion & Processing Layer

Data from the edge sensors is ingested into the cloud via AWS IoT Core, which manages secure device communication. AWS Lambda functions process and transform the incoming data streams, preparing them for advanced analytics.

AI Analytics Layer

This core intelligence layer leverages multiple AWS services to perform sophisticated analysis and prediction:

  • Citizen Image Analysis: Amazon Rekognition processes photos submitted by citizens for visual bloom identification.
  • Historical Dataset Processing: Amazon Bedrock integrates legacy datasets to enrich contextual understanding.
  • Machine Learning Modeling: Amazon SageMaker trains and deploys predictive models for bloom forecasting and severity estimation.
