Inspiration
To become digital HITAM and to reduce reliable human efforts. This will allow users to grow leafy vegetables in their house. Our solution involves automation level 6 where most of the monitoring will be done by itself. This is most required by gardening enthusiasts or people who pursue Urban farming as one of their sources of income.
What it does
We made a system that will monitor the plant's soil moisture content and bases on feedback automatically supplies water to respective plants. Our system incorporates telegram bot to get this feedback. Commands like "status" gives present moisture content and ambient light and the R1_ON command overrides the present moisture state and supplies water. And the command R1_OFF turns the supply off.
How we built it
Hardware Platform: Node MCU/ESP32 Sensors (DHT11/22, capacitive Soil moisture sensor) Multiple channel relays Software: Telegram API FreeRTOS
Challenges we ran into
Defining the reason why project is necessary Understating everyone interest. Reducing the risk. changes in design. Managing budget.
What we learned
We learned how technology can be used to grow the greenery with less efforts. In this busy world all are having a mechanical life they can have an access to grow the plants conveniently. The horticultural in India is one of the most successful and also a stable industry. From the local to high level farming, they need to maintain their fan base this aspect largely depends on their service. "Good food equals fresh vegetables", this phrase is true in the culinary world. We found an opportunity within this ecosystem, by shortening the gap between the consumer and producer, by providing transparency we could create a market that has very few competitors. Our main Stakeholders for business are farmers because they can relate to our mission, we would provide the vegetables that are freshly grown in the cities. This process not only provide good food but also it creates employment and with less invest more profit can be turn out. As there will be less or negligible land will be used, less or reuse of water is possible, no farming requires and last but not least no wastage of food would be taken place.
