What it Does
AquaDome rotationally extinguishes fires in all radial directions and angles.
Design Process
We built this product by using the engineering design process. We first identified the problem that we wanted to solve, next we brainstormed several solutions before deciding on AquaDome.
How we built it
We built AquaDome on Onshape.
Challenges we ran into
The biggest challenge we ran into was constructing this idea fully mechanically. It was challenging to think about how we would fully implement this idea.
What's next for AquaDome
The next area of improvement would be to improve the deployment system. Since the AquaDome is pretty heavy, it would be pretty hard for firemen to manually place it inside the burning room; therefore, some sort of automatic deployment system, such as using robotics, would be more optimal. Next, adding sensors to the AquaDome to sense falling objects or fires near it, combined with mobility such as tracks or wheels, would be vital for its longevity. This way, the AquaDome would be able to move around to spray fires down, as well as dodge any falling debris that it can sense.
