Inspiration

We were inspired by our own experiences with the hiring process, both being integrated into new companies and on the back-end of onboarding new employees. While researching these processes we found that onboarding, on average, can take up to 90 days. We were motivated to streamline this process and make it more efficient and personable to each employee.

What it does

Our product is a specialized portal for employees and employers which reimagines the onboarding process.

Our product features include:

  • Personalized Agentic AI with in-depth company database knowledge to help with questions and training
  • Tailored Employee Hub with external links to platforms, like Sharepoint, Workday, and Planner
  • Individualized training given from employers, which can include other resources such as LinkedIn Learning modules
  • Targeted Assessments to test knowledge and retain information with AI assistance
  • Supervisor controls for project management and assignments
  • Quantified skills ranking to best fit each employee to various projects/teams

How we built it

We used Canva website design to create a full mock up of our idea.

Challenges we ran into

We ran into a challenge when we were initially brainstorming ideas. We struggled with finding an idea that we felt inspiration to create a business solution for. However, our inspiration came through by exploring our personal experiences and visiting the Avanade Fireside Chat and talking with one of the panelists about our brainstorm helped us solidify our idea.

Arleen: We faced auto-save failures, we pivoted by being proactive about using an auto-save platform.

Jenn and Sneha: Using Canva was a learning curve. To produce a high value product, we first focused on deep brainstorming and communication within our team .

Maanya: We underestimated how much time the project would take to complete after getting a significant portion done, and found ourselves struggling for time towards the end. We delegated tasks in order to catch-up and get up to speed.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

We are proud to showcase a full inactive mock-up of our business solution, including advanced animations. We're also proud of our team since we collaborated effectively and prioritized work/life balance in order to create a product which values quality over quantity.

What we learned

We learned by practicing website design that for every button you have to consider the process to go through. You have to think about the before, during, and after and think about processes as a whole.

What's next for AquaBoarding

We hope to inspire other HR departments by pitching them our idea and promoting onboarding proficiency.
