Inspiration ✨

AquaAllies was inspired by the global water crisis and the need to raise awareness about the 6th Sustainable Development Goal: clean water and sanitation. Our goal is to utilize technology to spread information and empower individuals to take action. With AquaAllies, we provide an accessible web application that educates users and encourages their contribution towards achieving clean water and sanitation for all.

What it does 🤔

AquaAllies is a user-friendly web app that serves as a hub for information and action related to the 6th Sustainable Development Goal. It consists of three pages: home, goals, and contribute.

The home page features an introductory video and accompanying text, presenting key facts and statistics about the global water crisis to engage and inspire users.

The goals page showcases an interactive animation illustrating the targets and objectives of the 6th Sustainable Development Goal. Users can explore various aspects of clean water and sanitation, such as safe drinking water and improved sanitation facilities.

The contribute page provides options for users to make a positive impact. They can donate to organizations working on clean water initiatives, volunteer with relevant NGOs, and learn about water conservation tips and social media campaigns.

How we built it 💻

We built AquaAllies using NextJS in front-end and back-end. We also used typescript as the base language for this project in order to have a better work environment. and there are tons of other minor technologies used in this app to make it an unreal experience such as lottie-web by airbnb etc.

Challenges we faced 🧗🏻

One challenge was gathering accurate and up-to-date information on clean water and sanitation initiatives. Extensive research was conducted to ensure the content was reliable.

Designing an intuitive and visually appealing user interface that effectively conveyed the importance of the 6th Sustainable Development Goal was another challenge. Multiple iterations and usability tests were conducted to enhance the user experience.

We're proud of creating a comprehensive and user-friendly web app that combines education, interactivity, and actionable contributions. The video, animation, and contribution options were carefully crafted to engage and motivate users.

We're also proud of delivering AquaAllies within the specified timeframe, overcoming challenges through effective collaboration.

What we learned 📚

Developing AquaAllies deepened our understanding of the global water crisis, clean water and sanitation challenges, and the Sustainable Development Goals. We gained valuable insights into web development technologies and learned the importance of effective team communication and collaboration.

What's next for AquaAllies 🚀

In the future, we plan to continuously update AquaAllies with the latest information and success stories. We'll explore social media integration to expand our reach. Additionally, we aim to provide educational resources for educators and localize the content to reach a broader international audience.
