Inspiration

I started building aql.chat as an alternative for the mainstream big tech AI platforms. As the years went by, pure research labs continuously started to veer into unethical areas involving surveillance, military, war, and beyond, and the scandals kept racking up. I was already looking into backblaze as the storage provider of choice, as when our agents compared it to amazon/aws it wasnt even a comparison. Meanwhile I was focused on the chat experience for the initial alpha, and needed to implement the media studio sooner or later. This hackathon coincidentally came at exactly the perfect time for me to do both!

What it does

General purpose generative AI media platform with multiple modalities - text/image/video/audio as inputs and outputs. A simple panel view with your inspiration on one side and the generations on the other. Designed to be intuitive, and also seamlessly integrate numerous inference providers for a variety of models - we prefer open weights but have routes to all available.

How we built it

We started quite late! A maniacal bunch of all manner of agents from all frontier ai labs - Codex, Fable, GLM, and Kimi especially is really nice at design! Using our existing platform, made a new page specifically for media - running on top of our infrastructure running rio/fastapi under the hood.

Challenges we ran into

I first tried to make it a tabbable panel from our chat page, but that didnt have sufficient flexibility to do everything, atleast not without tremendous code bloat.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

Never put anything on AWS yet! And I find myself using our tool more and more as the weeks go by, instead of reaching for others.

What we learned

Sometimes its better to start fresh than try to

What's next for AQL Dream Studio

More and more tools for creators! I want a classical photoshop-like canvas for image, and a davinci-style editor for video eventually.
