What it does
How we built itInspiration
We were inspired by a clear gap we noticed: most apps for kids with developmental and intellectual disabilities focus only on repetitive tasks, ignoring their huge creative potential. We wanted to build a safe, peaceful space where these children can freely express themselves through art, music, and storytelling without sensory overload.
## What it does
AQDAR is an inclusive, AI-powered app that empowers kids with developmental challenges to discover their creativity.
Adaptive Activities: Guided drawing, music making, and storytelling adapted to each child’s pace. Sensory-Friendly Design: Quiet modes and simple, high-contrast layouts to prevent sensory overload. Parent Dashboard: A dedicated space for parents to track progress and access supportive guidance. ## How we built it
Our idea for AQDAR started with a simple question: How can design and AI unlock creative potential for kids with special needs?
Deep Research: We studied academic papers on Google Scholar and PubMed to understand sensory processing and inclusive UI rules. UI/UX Prototype: We created interactive wireframes and prototypes on Magic Patterns focusing on accessibility. Tech Setup: Structured a clean collaboration between Frontend, Backend, and AI APIs. ## Accomplishments that we're proud of Turning our research into a fully functional interactive prototype, branding, and concept in just 4 days. Building a truly sensory-friendly experience designed around real kids' needs. Working together effectively as a young team (ages 14–16) with clear roles (UI/UX, Frontend, Backend, AI Research, and Product Manager) in our very first hackathon experience! ## What we learned How to design accessible, sensory-friendly interfaces (Inclusive UX). How to transform scientific research into a simple, friendly product. How to communicate, adapt, and build fast under tight hackathon deadlines. ## What's next for AQDAR Partnering with rehabilitation centers and special education schools. Making the AI more adaptive to personalize activities for each child in real time. Launching native apps for mobile and tablet to reach more families worldwide.
