Inspiration

The idea for APT Auth stems from recent information relating to blue collar work and mental health associated to the work-life style. APT Auth believes that workers who display signs of cognitive impairment are more at risk of live altering accidents in the workplace.

What it does

APT Auth serves as a verification tool meant for daily check-in for worksite employees. The verification should relay signs regarding parameters that suggest one is unfit to work, such as, fatigue, mental fog, delayed response and more. NOTE:APT Auth is not a licensed diagnostic tool. It provides a surface-level assessment intended to inform employers and indicate when further evaluation by a qualified health professional may be appropriate.

How we built it

This submission utilizes a front-end implementation primarily composed of HTML, with CSS and JavaScript used to support functional gameplay. Due to time constraints, the GitHub repository and submitted project represent a mock implementation. Nonetheless, backend components including, Python-driven game logic, SQL databases, FastAPI services, external libraries, and LLM integrations, were designed and tested but intentionally excluded from the final submission. These components are planned for inclusion in a subsequent version

Challenges we ran into

After completing the front end, attempts were made to integrate multiple backend components, including databases using Supabase, AWS IoT Core for data transmission, and machine-learning–based data analysis tools to analyze and optimize the baseline parameters on which each game depends. This integration proved challenging within the available time, leading the team to prioritize polishing the front-end code and refining the overall product concept. Regardless of the hackathon outcome, the team is committed to completing the full backend as a passion project and for continued development of the idea.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

We built a complete, working system that integrates cognitive assessment into the workplace clock-in process and enforces authorization automatically. The project demonstrates an objective, individualized evaluation approach in a browser-based mobile application that is accessible, scalable, and practical for real-world use.

What's next for Apt Auth

APT Auth has a bright future involving multiple upgrades and alternative use case ideas:

  • Payroll/Clock-in App Extension (Current apps meant for payroll will have access to implement APT Auth has an add to their own app)
  • Machine learning from user data (given consent)
  • Municipal Integration with current companies who's employee work on-site
