Inspiration

We wanted to bring real-world context, like weather, into Jira to help teams stay informed without switching apps.

What it does

Shows real-time weather updates on your Jira dashboard based on the user’s city and country.

How we built it

Built using Atlassian Forge, UI Kit for frontend, and Fetch API in the backend. Data is pulled from OpenWeatherMap using secure environment variables.

Challenges we ran into

Understanding Forge's edit/view flow, handling API calls, and managing environment variables securely.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

Built a working gadget from scratch, connected external APIs, and gained hands-on experience with Forge.

What we learned

How to use Forge modules, connect frontend and backend using invoke, and securely manage API keys.

What's next for Apprentice Level

Improve UI, add weather icons, and display forecasts. Possibly integrate location detection and alerts.
