Inspiration

In today's society, there are not enough recognized women in mathematics when significant cotributions have been made. This website is to recognize women in mathematics and allow you to navigate through the different fields of mathematics! Enjoy 💗 The field of pure mathematics and applied mathematics have slight differences. In the field of pure mathematics, mathematicians study and do math for the sake of doing math. On the other side, applied mathematicians find a way to apply math that has been proven and find ways to use it in everyday life. Both are important as pure mathematics paves the way to finding applications of math, and applied mathematics implements those applications in math. Mathematics is a field that, with perseverence and asking questions, one can do well. If you find yourself interested in math and identify as a woman, please let this motivate and empower you to pursue mathematics further. If you are interested in learning about the accomplishments of women in mathematics, you are in the right place.

What it does

It displays women who are in the field of pure and applied mathematics.

How I built it

I built it using HTML and CSS. I used GitHub as the hosting domain and visual studio to apply to the HTML and CSS code.

Challenges I ran into

I ran into time constraints. When I compiled the lists of women in applied and pure mathematics, there were numerous pages for each document, about 25 each. With more time, I needed to figure out a way to add the lists and format them all at once instead of individually using

    . I think a javascript would be best; however, I do not know how to use it and with more time could figure it out.

    Accomplishments that I'm proud of

    This is my first time using HTML and CSS. This was also my first hackathon and my first website. I am proud that I learned how to clone a repository into visual studio code. I am also proud that I installed visual studio code.

    What's next for Appreciation for Women in Mathematics

    Next is installing that javascript to load all the women's names from A-Z as I only incorporated A. Also, I would like to add pictures of each woman if applicable.
