Appraisal Helper

Inspiration

Raising home values in the Austin area and the tax bills that come with it.

What it does

The program helps with the property assessment sent by the appraisal district. It will also directly correlate with the taxes that will be paid at the end of the yar. The user can use this program when protesting their property taxes with the appraisal district to get a lower home value so as to lower the tax burden at the end of the year.

How we built it

We built this program on Python and imported certain libraries to use.

Challenges we ran into

Not enough time to create the UI that will make the program run smoother. We ran into issues reading the data, saving it then using it again for calculations.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

We are proud to have created a program that can be used in real-life scenarios when protesting property taxes.

How to work better as a team and break up a project.

What's next for Appraisal Helper

The next step with Appraisal Helper, filter more options for the user in a GUI form. Expanding the program to work in different counties and to give the user a rough estimate of your potential tax bill based upon your tax district.
