Inspiration
Our Inpiration came from the difficulty of starting an idea, and we figured that, that idea would be a valid project Idea.
What it does
It will ask the user for their startup idea, and get contextualizing features that make the app as in depth as possible, comparing it to others similar in the field comparing revenue and finding the problems the competitors have. We change the input to numbers and compare them to the IOS store using a sentence transformer library, and rank them on how similar, how much revenue, etc. Based on the original prompt.
How we built it
We build it using C# for the backend, gemini for the api key, Scraper the IOS store for reviews and derived the revenue from that. We also used python for the sentence transformer library and reranked, We hosted it on vercel, and utilized Claude for the debugging. The equation is as follows $$ \text{Tier} = \begin{cases} \text{Established} & \text{if } N \ge 50{,}000 \text{ or in an overall top-grossing chart} \ \text{Small} & \text{otherwise} \end{cases} $$
$$ R = 0 \quad \text{(free, no in-app purchases)} $$
$$ R_{\text{ratings}} = e^{a} N^{b} = \begin{cases} 159.3\, N^{0.858} & \text{Established} \ 1032\, N^{0.408} & \text{Small} \end{cases} $$
$$ R_{\text{chart}} = K \sum_{c} w_c \, (\text{rank}_c)^{-0.9}, \qquad K = \begin{cases} 1.27 \times 10^{9} & \text{apps} \ 10.5 \times 10^{9} & \text{games} \end{cases} $$
$$ R = \begin{cases} \sqrt{R_{\text{ratings}} \cdot R_{\text{chart}}} & \text{if the app charts} \ R_{\text{ratings}} & \text{otherwise} \end{cases} $$
$$ \text{Range} = \begin{cases} [\,R/2,\ 2R\,] & \text{Established} \ [\,R/5,\ 5R\,] & \text{Small} \end{cases} $$
Challenges we ran into
We had a very big error trying to derive the revenue, as the ranges were very big and inaccurate. We fixed this but cutting down the range. We also had a big problem hosting it, as we were using too much power on the vercel server.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
We are proud of where we came from, and how this product is a genuinely viable product founders can use. I think this MVP is one of the best we could have came up with.
What we learned
We learned how to use vercel, C#, Python, and build a comfortable UI that a user can use
What's next for Apposition
Our next step is unknown, and If this eventually does become a real startup, the first thing we will do is to get a better revenue model.
