Inspiration

Students in Bangladesh often discover scholarships, internships, jobs, and hackathons across dozens of websites and social media platforms. Keeping track of deadlines, required documents, and application progress can quickly become overwhelming. Missing one important deadline can mean losing an opportunity that could change someone's future.

We wanted to create a simple, student-friendly solution that brings these opportunities and application tasks together in one place. That idea inspired ApplyReady BD: a tool designed to help students spend less time organizing opportunities and more time pursuing them.

Our vision is simple: every student deserves a fairer chance to discover opportunities, stay organized, and move confidently toward their goals.

What it does

ApplyReady BD is a Bangladesh-focused opportunity and application management app concept designed around students' everyday needs.

Its core features include:

  • Opportunity tracking: Organize scholarships, internships, jobs, and hackathons in one place.
  • Deadline management: Identify upcoming deadlines and prioritize applications.
  • Application checklists: Keep track of documents and tasks required for each opportunity.
  • Application status tracking: Follow progress from initial interest to preparation and submission.
  • Student-friendly experience: Use a clean, accessible interface designed with simplicity in mind.

The goal is to make the application journey more organized, transparent, and manageable, especially for students navigating multiple opportunities at once.

How we built it

We approached ApplyReady BD as a focused, iterative product rather than attempting to build a large, complicated platform immediately.

Our development approach prioritizes a clear user journey: adding an opportunity, reviewing its deadline, organizing required tasks, updating application progress, and returning to that information when needed.

We use AI-assisted development to support planning, implementation, and testing while keeping the project scope manageable. The intended architecture emphasizes a lightweight web interface and browser-based data persistence, helping keep the first version affordable and accessible without depending on paid APIs.

We also prioritize a responsive interface so students can manage their opportunities from a laptop or mobile device.

The project follows a plan-first development approach, with project scope, product requirements, and technical specifications documented in "scope.md", "prd.md", and "spec.md".

Challenges we ran into

One of our biggest challenges was deciding what to build first. An opportunity platform could easily expand into automated scholarship discovery, AI-powered eligibility matching, document generation, notifications, and many other features.

With a limited development window, we needed to distinguish essential functionality from future possibilities. We focused on a smaller, coherent experience instead of promising features that could not be implemented and tested properly.

Another challenge was making the interface informative without overwhelming users. Deadlines, documents, and application statuses are all important, but presenting too much information at once can make an app harder to use.

We addressed these challenges by prioritizing a clear dashboard, simple workflows, and a realistic first-version scope.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

We are proud of shaping a practical idea around a real problem faced by students and turning it into a focused product plan.

ApplyReady BD brings several related tasks—opportunity organization, deadline awareness, document preparation, and application progress—into one coherent experience.

We are also proud of prioritizing accessibility and affordability. By designing around a lightweight web application, we aim to make the tool useful to students who may not have access to expensive software or paid AI services.

Most importantly, we are building with a practical mindset: a smaller tool that reliably helps users is more valuable than a long list of features that do not work end to end.

What we learned

This project reinforced the importance of planning before coding. AI coding agents can accelerate development, but they work more effectively when requirements, constraints, and acceptance criteria are clearly defined.

We learned to break a broad idea into manageable tasks, keep the initial scope focused, and validate important workflows instead of assuming that generated code works correctly.

We also learned that product quality is not determined by the number of features alone. Clear design, useful functionality, realistic claims, and a convincing demonstration all matter.

These lessons will shape how we approach future AI-assisted projects.

What's next for ApplyReady BD

Our next goal is to complete and validate the core application workflow, ensuring that students can add opportunities, organize deadlines, manage checklists, update application statuses, and retain their information reliably.

Future improvements could include:

  • Verified opportunity listings from trusted organizations.
  • Eligibility filters based on academic background and application requirements.
  • Optional deadline reminders and calendar integration.
  • Bangla-first guidance for understanding application requirements.
  • Privacy-conscious document organization.
  • AI-assisted application planning, with clear user control over generated content.

Ultimately, we want ApplyReady BD to become a practical companion for students in Bangladesh—helping them move from discovering an opportunity to preparing a strong, timely application.

Dream. Plan. Apply. Succeed.
