Inspiration

Students find hackathons, grants, fellowships, internships, accelerators, competitions, and university programs across dozens of websites and social channels. The difficult part is not finding one opportunity — it is keeping everything in one place, checking whether the source is still valid, understanding whether the opportunity is relevant, and actually following through before the deadline.

OpportunityProof is a personal opportunity operating system built to make that workflow manageable.

What it does

OpportunityProof brings discovery, verification, prioritization, application tracking, and deadlines into one web app.

The live MVP includes:

  • a personalized home dashboard with recommended next steps
  • an opportunities catalog with filters for category, status, format, funding, deadline, and source
  • opportunity cards with organizer/source links, funding and format information, deadlines, and eligibility notes
  • a “Needs clarification” layer for rules that cannot be safely inferred
  • source-health indicators with last-check timestamps and statuses such as OK, error, or never checked
  • a detailed opportunity drawer with source information and eligibility checks
  • favorites and planning actions
  • “Start application” / remove-from-applications state changes
  • a dedicated My Applications area
  • archive actions
  • a calendar view for upcoming deadlines and events
  • .ics calendar export from opportunity details

The current catalog brings together opportunities and source references from a broad set of ecosystems, including Devpost, DoraHacks, MLH, Astana Hub, Erasmus+, UN and World Bank career pages, accelerator platforms, scholarship sources, and more.

Who it is for

The first target user is a student or early-career builder who is actively searching for international programs, hackathons, grants, internships, fellowships, accelerators, and competitions — but currently manages them across browser tabs, Telegram posts, notes, spreadsheets, and memory.

How it works

OpportunityProof treats an opportunity as more than a link.

Each item is presented with the information a user needs to make a next-step decision: deadline, category, participation format, funding signal, source, verification status, and eligibility questions.

Instead of pretending uncertain information is known, the product explicitly surfaces unresolved checks under “Needs clarification.” The user can then open the original source before committing time to an application.

Once an opportunity matters, the user can save it, plan to apply, start an application, move it through their personal workflow, add the deadline to a calendar, or archive it.

What makes it different

Most opportunity lists stop at discovery. OpportunityProof focuses on the entire decision workflow:

discover → inspect the source → resolve uncertainty → decide → track → meet the deadline

A second differentiator is source transparency. The live interface shows source links, refresh information, and source-health states instead of hiding provenance behind a recommendation feed.

A third differentiator is uncertainty handling. The product deliberately distinguishes confirmed information from things that still need verification, which is safer than presenting a single opaque “match score.”

What we built during LovHack Season 3

The product was designed and built during the LovHack Season 3 build period (September 26–October 4, 2026).

During the event we created the product concept, information architecture, opportunity catalog, responsive interface, source-status layer, filtering system, detailed opportunity views, eligibility-check presentation, favorites/planning workflow, application-tracking states, calendar view, .ics export flow, and the public deployment.

The final LovHack build is the version available through the working demo link in this submission.

Technical implementation

The live product is a responsive single-page web application built with standard web technologies and AI-assisted development.

Verified implementation details include:

  • HTML5
  • CSS3, including responsive Grid layouts
  • client-side JavaScript interactions
  • single-page application behavior
  • calendar and application-state interactions
  • public web deployment

The current build intentionally avoids depending on a heavy frontend framework for the visible experience.

Testing

Before submission, the public deployment was tested in a fresh browser session.

Verified working interactions include:

  • switching between Home, Opportunities, My Applications, and Calendar
  • opening opportunity details
  • filtering the opportunity catalog
  • viewing source-health information
  • changing an opportunity into the application-tracking state with “Start application”
  • rendering the October 2026 calendar with opportunity markers

Challenges

The biggest product challenge was deciding how much confidence the interface should communicate. Real opportunity rules are often incomplete, stale, or spread across multiple pages, so the product should not manufacture certainty. That led to the “Needs clarification” model and visible source-health information.

A second challenge was combining discovery and execution without turning the product into another static directory. The application states, calendar, source links, and action controls were built to make the product useful after discovery.

Accomplishments

  • public working MVP
  • multi-source opportunity catalog
  • personalized dashboard
  • source transparency and health indicators
  • eligibility / clarification layer
  • advanced filters
  • application tracking
  • calendar workflow
  • .ics deadline export
  • responsive UI
  • browser-tested live deployment

What’s next

Next steps are automatic source refresh, richer personalization, deeper official-rule verification, multilingual support, document tracking, deadline notifications, and more explicit evidence-backed fit analysis.
