Inspiration

We developed ApplyCanada based on the experiences of international students grappling with the financial burden of tuition and living expenses. Looking friends around us, those who have already pursued studies abroad face challenges in covering international student fees. So they prompt aspirations for Permanent Residency (PR) or citizenship and some seek ways to finance their education. Additionally, prospective international students are often uncertain about the specific living costs in Canada, hindering their confidence in committing to study abroad. To address these concerns, we created the ApplyCanada website.

What it does

ApplyCanada provides a wealth of information to navigate the intricacies of immigration and student life in Canada. Our extensive resources covering Permanent Residency (PR) pathways, gain insights into the realistic living costs across different provinces, and explore the various financial aid options available to international undergraduates. Our platform fosters community engagement through a dedicated Q&A page, where users can share valuable information, exchange thoughts, and build connections.

How we built it

First, we brainstormed ideas and designed the layout and menu. Then, we conducted research, created a SQL file, and used HTML, CSS, and JavaScript to complete the frontend. Afterward, we proceeded with the backend development.

Challenges we ran into

1.Learning a new language 2.Connecting SQL, Node.js, and HTML simultaneously using AJAX 3.Adjusting was challenging due to slight variations in screen ratios for each device. 4.There were differing preferences in development.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

Proud that we have shaped the form of the website within the given timeframe.

What we learned

  1. Creating the website takes significant time(even the simple ones take long)
  2. Communication is the most important part in team project.

What's next for Apply Canada

  1. Need to add more informations.
  2. Design needs some more refinement.
