Inspiration

Getting into a workout routine can be intimidating when you don’t know which exercises fit your goals or how to organize your week. We wanted to make that first step easier and give people a way to adjust their plan as their lives change.

What it does

FitWorksAI collects a user’s goals, experience level, and preferred number of workout days. It creates a weekly routine that users can view day by day. An AI coach lets users ask fitness questions and request changes to their routine.

How we built it

We built the interface in Python using Kivy, with screens for profile setup, chat, and the weekly routine. We used SQLite to save profiles, conversations, and workouts, and connected the Gemini API to generate routines and coach responses.

Challenges we ran into

Our biggest challenge was connecting the interface, database, and AI responses so a generated routine could be saved and displayed consistently. We also had to make the app usable when an AI response was unavailable.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

We brought the profile, chat, and routine views together in one app. Users can provide their goals, request a plan, and view their saved workout week.

What we learned

We learned how the visible parts of an app connect to its Python logic and database, and why AI-generated routines need a consistent data format before the app can display them.

What's next for FitWorksAI

Our goal is to package the program for Android and iOS devices so our consumers have access to FitWorksAI. We’d also like to improve routine customization, add useful workout reminders, and make it easier to put sessions on a calendar.
